On Tuesday, the 11th of February, the General Director of the Romanian Agency for International Development Cooperation (RoAid), Cătălin Harnagea, had a meeting with the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the Republic of Moldova, Dima Al-Khatib, at the RoAid office in Bucharest. The meeting was attended also by Valeria Ieșeanu, Head of Programme at UNDP.
The discussion focused on aspects related to development cooperation in the Republic of Moldova, in areas such as good governance, strengthening of institutional capabilities, technical assistance, migration, human rights, gender equality, trade promotion and climate change. According to the UN representatives, UNDP in the Republic of Moldova presently supports the drafting of the first Voluntary National Evaluation report on the implementation of Agenda 2030. The official presentation of the Report will take place in July 2020, during the High-Level Political Forum for Sustainable Development, organized under the auspices of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
The General Director of RoAid, Cătălin Harnagea, expressed his interest in establishing a collaboration between the Agency and UNDP Moldova for the implementation of joint projects in the Republic of Moldova. Also, he welcomed the proposal to prioritize education, sanitation and hygiene, as well as other areas of development, depending on the current socio-economic context in the country.
The two officials agreed to analyse in the upcoming period the specific terms of the collaboration between RoAid and UNDP Moldova.
